Experiencing the Thrill and Excitement of this year's worlds-Priceless!

Silver Blade Tours, Inc. has once again experienced the hospitality of our northern neighbors in Vancouver, BC Canada at the World Figure Skating Championships. Communication with Skate Canada was the best and I would like to thank Alan Koyanagi for all of his assistance. We were thrilled to receive our seat assignments nine months prior to the event, which was a first.

We began our fun-filled week in Vancouver, with a Welcome Reception at the Crowne Plaza Georgia Hotel. There everyone was able to meet with old friends and new ones while enjoying tea sandwiches, vegetable, cheese, and fruit platters, and scrumptious brownies and cookies. It was a time for us to speak with everyone and present them all with our tote bags, World's pins, Silver Blade Tours pins, media guides, skating programs, and bus passes.

Since the GM Place was in walking distance, a lot of our clients decided to walk there daily even though we provided daily private coach transfers from our hotel. Our seats were located in the corner from rows 2-10 with great views of all the skaters. One highlight on our tour was coordinating the American Flag with placards, which we carried each day to the GM Place. It was a great experience to have everyone cooperate and hold these cards up without any rehearsal. What a thrill to look up at the Jumbotron above and see how spectacular our flag would look on television. Other U.S. tour groups participated along with some Canadians. We thank you all for this great effort and it just made us all proud to support our U.S. skaters.

It was indeed a great week of spectacular skating. Everyone had their favorites from the U.S and other countries, but we all were especially proud of our American skaters. Congratulations to Michelle Kwan, Sarah Hughes, and Todd Eldredge for coming home with the Gold and Bronze Medals. It was exciting to watch them again at SkateFest along with great fireworks to celebrate their victories. All of our skaters are to be commended for skating well. Just to skate at worlds is an honor!

In between skating events, we toured around Vancouver and visited Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Gastown, and Chinatown. It was great to see spring flowers in bloom as we drove through the city. We also rode the ski gondola up to Grouse Mountain for a panoramic view of Vancouver below. Most of us crossed the famed wooden suspension Bridge over Capilano River.

Our evening dinner cruise was indeed special as it gave everyone time to visit each other and discuss the weeks events. A wonderful dinner, cruising the harbor, and watching fireworks from SkateFest, made it a memorable evening.

A week of great skating, sightseeing tours, and new friendships formed, made our trip to Vancouver special. We hope to see you again at future skating events!

COME AND VISIT OUR CANADIAN NEIGHBOR, VANCOUVER AND SEE THE WORLDS' BEST COMPETE!
